Strategic collaboration combines Surventis' expertise in microstructured optical functional films with AUMOVIO's system integration competencies.

Surventis, formerly BASF Coatings, has entered into a strategic development and collaboration agreement with AUMOVIO to advance microstructured optical films for automotive applications distributed under its Chemetall brand. The partnership supports the development of innovative solutions for displays and head-up displays to be supplied to customers worldwide.
Electrification and autonomous mobility are increasing the importance of advanced display as key user interface in vehicles, driving demand for high-performance and cost-efficient optical components.
To address this need, AUMOVIO and Surventis have established a strategic collaboration enabling next-generation automotive UX systems through the integration of advanced optical films.
“Automotive applications represent an important growth area for our functional films business,” said Frank Naber, Executive Vice President, Surface Treatment, Surventis. “Microstructured optical films open up new possibilities for light management in automotive displays, and head-up displays. By partnering with AUMOVIO, we bring innovative optical solutions into future vehicle platforms more efficiently.”
“Advanced display technologies are becoming increasingly important for the in-vehicle user experience,” said Ulrich Lueders, Director Strategy and Portfolio of the User Experience (UX) business area at AUMOVIO. “By combining Surventis’ competencies in microstructured optical films with our expertise in automotive integration and manufacturing, we can translate new optical concepts into scalable solutions for the requirements of future mobility.”
Surventis brings unique expertise in the design and manufacturing of microstructured optical films, combining deep material science and optical know-how with state-of-the-art nanoimprint technology. Through scalable roll-to-roll nanoimprinting, sophisticated optical micro- and nanostructures can be replicated with precision over large areas, enabling next-generation optical films that enhance performance, functionality, and design freedom in future UX systems.
AUMOVIO’s expertise in developing advanced automotive displays and head-up display solutions, combined with its deep system integration capabilities, enables the seamless integration of Surventis’ technologies into vehicle interiors that meet automotive standards and OEM requirements. Together, the companies have defined concrete development steps and initial industrialization milestones to guide implementation.
